Some Good Resources

I decided to take my innovation project and go a step further for my action research. My innovation plan is on blended learning and I wanted to do my action research on blended learning book clubs and their affects on literature comprehension and fluency.

Cherry-Paul, S., & Johansen, D. (2019). Breathing new life into book clubs: A practical guide for teachers.

Heinemann.

One book I found so interesting that I bought it was Breathing New Life Into Book Clubs by Sonja Cherry-Paul and Dana Johansen. It is a guide to help teachers implement book clubs with fresh new ideas. It talks about everrney ything from how to get started to how to get your students engaged in having collaborative conversations about literature.

Linton, J. (2018). The blended learning blueprint for elementary teachers. SAGE Publications

This book was actually loaned to me from my math coach. My district is looking into starting blended learning in the schools and she gave this to me to read. It is specific to elementary classrooms, however, there is always a way to differentiate for the older students. This is a go to kind of book for any elementary teacher that has no idea where to start on her blended journey.

This article helps teachers understand why we say teacher centered vs student centered.

Unfortunately, I have not found anyone else that is doing their action research on the use of book clubs in a blended learning environment to compare notes with. I know it will be difficult (it has already) to find research to help me with my journey in research, but I am going to have fun with it.
