Does Media Influence Our Lives?

I can think of many different media pitches that have gotten to me. I watch a short media pitch about a new innovative idea in education and I literally say "YES" out loud! I talk to myself and say how exciting the idea is! Then I immediately start researching the thing I just got a glimpse about. I have often found myself spending hours looking into the new idea. I'm currently in the 5315 class where I am designing an action research plan. As I was completing my lit review, I was looking up more literature on book clubs. Needless to say (if you know me),Ii squirreled and started looking for more book club ideas that I can use in my classroom. I went to TPT and Pinterest looking for fun ideas, then I bought a book on Amazon. I had to pull myself back in to do my work. It all started with a short media clip I watched on virtual book clubs.

It's funny how our minds work. When we are children, commercials about toys got us all wide-eyed and ready to go shop. In our teens, movie trailers get our attention. In college, food commercials made us crazy (especially pizza). Now, as educators, it's small media clips that introduce us to the next exciting and revolutionizing idea.

It is CRUCIAL for us to do what we can to tug at our intended audience's heart strings and stimulate their brains. If we don't do either of those things, we are not going to be successful in getting others to follow along or to buy into our ideas.
