How I feel about change

• Why is change so important Change in EVERYTHING is inevitable! Education is no exception. In fact, education changes almost daily. New ways of learning are discovered constantly. We teachers are adapting and overcoming new obstacles every day. If the way we teach does not adapt to the ever changing environment, we teachers will be left in the dust. With social media as widely used as it is, our students change the way they see things which, in turn, often chages the way they learn things. When we disrupt the education system as we know it and take a step back, we will learn more about our students and what they are passionate learning about. We also find out what they already know and what they can share with the world.

• If blended learning is not about the technology but about the learning then why do we overemphasize the technology aspect of this change? I think technology is like a crutch when people think about blended learning. It is easier for a teacher to just add a computer or a technology program to their lesson and call it blended learning instead of figuring out how they can incorporate new ways of teaching the same TEKS that they are used to teaching. Many teachers use the computer as a crutch to hold them up in blended learning.
