Growth Mindset

crissmanc

I feel fortunate to have studied this concept at my old district. I started my career in a very small school district that put a large emphasis on moving the students and teachers into the new ways of learning and teaching. We were encouraged to make growth mindset a part of our classrooms. We encouraged our students to use the word YET.

Any time that someone is learning or attempting something new, it is important to have a growth mindset. When we are open to and willing to make mistakes, with full intent of trying again, we will become more well rounded learners. No one is good at everything they do every time they do it and no one can be perfect when they are learning new things. When we adopt the use of the word yet, we open ourselves to more possibilities of growth in so many ways.

Teachers that are interested in learning more about growth mindset can follow @growthmindset1 on Twitter, search growth minset facebook groups, and look for the book called Bubblegum Brain to teach growth mindset to elementary aged children.
