Go with feeling... not always words

crissmanc

While I was watching the Power of Words video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hzgzim5m7oU) I was wondering: "How in the world does this fit in to this class?" "It has a powerful message, but what can I get from this to help me with my work here?" Then, while reading the instructions for this discussion, the light bulb came on... bright! It's funny how often we can't see the message in things because we are looking for it to be written out for us. We don't have to use a lot of words or use a lengthy video to get our point across. We can get people interested by tugging at their heart strings or by waking up their senses. I'm always telling my students that when they are writing they need to show and not tell, but there are times that I don't follow my own advice! To make my video effective, I need to focus on the message I want to portray, instead of the words.

I am going to targeting my audiences hearts first and foremost. I want them to FEEL something for what I am showing them. I want them to feel deep down inside that blended learning is the future of education, that it is what is best for most of our kids. When they feel, their brains will then hopefully get activated to where they give it a try or at least research it on their own.
